Weekend in Monroe is my Inspiration for the June 1st Sketch

What a lovely weekend spent at Jan's retreat in Monroe last February.  Got some homework done (yep 6 dbl LO's, 6 cards, three journal pages) and made progress towards bringing my OLW into 2015

Here is the sketch  Let's Scrap Blog is linked here

This picture of the evening sky screamed scrap me for this layout..Loved the stars barely shown in this moonscap photograph.

The stars are various die cuts, the papers and embellishments from an old Cocoa Daisy Monthly Kit.  Trying to use up old stock and it has been so much fun to dig into matched papers and embellishments and create current layouts...brings so much happiness. Oh yeah the pictures were taken with my Canon Power Shot SX700 HS on the Creative mode which takes multiple images in various settings.  The pictures were printed out using my Canon Selphy.  Love, love, love the wifi that both the camera and the printer have enabling to use these products at events such as this retreat.

Half way through May - Time for another Sketch

Wishing everyone a lovely day in May

Flowers are starting to bloom and days are getting longer

That means more time to scrap!!

Here is the latest sketch over at Let's Scrap

I took a different approach to this sketch.  I have been working through my stash and came upon feathers....never knowing how to use the feathers I used them for my tree.  Here is my double layout
Paper and embellishments from my stash pictures of my son and his girlfriend celebrating a hot latte on Christmas morning...a gift from him to her....

Its April 1st so here is Inspiration for a LO

Well it is April Fools Day and have you played the Google Maps Pac-Man game??

I have been busy creating a layout for this awesome layout available from Let's Scrap

Here is the sketch
with so many elements throughout the page I decided to choose scrap my daughter's College Graduation photo shoot.  I had so much fun with this sketch.  Here are the results

The heart is a die from Simon Says Stamp, the embellishment from Memory Box, the word dies were borrowed from my scrap buddy so not sure of the manufacturer and I am loving those rhinestones from Prima.

Be sure and checkout the Facebook and Blog for Let's Scrap and play along with us.

Scrap Room is taking Shape

I have been in the townhome for seven months...well if I was only home that much....back and forth to California and out and about exploring the new town, it seems I am only home during the work week.

Last weekend I told myself to stay in and pay some attention to organizing, re-organizing and re-organizing again....the scrap room needs to take shape as a an inspirational space to create.

This wall above the dresser and below the display shelves may of finally hit the mark....

Then there is a small organization haul from IKEA

Valentines Day is around the corner

Just a quick post to share the card I am dropping in the mail tomorrow for my hubby.
Used frisket to outline the heart, distress markers as watercolor "paints" and enable the resist, white embossing powder to bring forward the word Love using a stamp from Impress.

Fun and quick to create once the frisket dried.

If you haven't used frisket, it is the consistency of rubber cement and used to mask off the areas not wanting the paint.  For this card I only applied the frisket to the outside diameter of the heart, not the whole card because I was able to keep the paint within the lines, just didn't want it to bleed through on the rest of the card.

New Year Already

Can you believe it is February of 2015....what happened to 2014?

A brief catch up with me, I have relocated to the Seattle for a few years.
The kids have graduated college and I guess you can say I graduated to another state.
Living away from Hubby, kids, dogs and the sun is very different.
Buying a home to live in by myself is ALOT different, exciting, different, adventurous, different....

I have now been here for 7 months with over two months time I have been able to be in Cali with family and friends.  In August for my sweet mother-in-laws funeral, then again in November for my best friend's.  Saddened occasions occurred last year, events that I am still learning how to cope with.

I have been shown how precious life and love is and that no one can ever take it for granted.

I am attempting to accomplish many things this year...
1) Learn the things I have taken for granted that hubby will always do...cooking and house painting
2) Learn to draw faces...something my mother can do with her eyes closed
3) Meet new people...something that being in a family unit always came easy
4) Reach out and VOLUNTEER my time and talents...possibly a way to accomplish #3
5) Become a better listener

So follow me as I document my accomplishments this year and venture out into the brave new world without my best friend by my side but rather watching and directing my every move from Heaven.
